I read a review of this power washer in some magazine that compared it to a bunch of others and recommended it.

It works as promised and is smaller and lighter than a gas powered. It did our vinyl siding and deck beautifully

This washer is good for light duty work such as washing cars and driveways. Because it is a lower pressure unit it can be used safely on windows. I like the lightweight portability of the washer. I would reccomend it where you need to transport it up and down stairs. It comes with a good extension cord equiped with a GFI plug but the plastic pressure hose is stiffer than I would like making it difficult to handle and stow after use. A rubber hose would have been easier to handle. Overall it seems to be a good buy for the money.

Worked fine -- for almost two years

After thorough online research, I bought this model, mainly to clean my deck to prep for restaining two years ago. It did a great job at that. I've also used it to wash the siding on my two story house. It does a fine job on the first level, but mainly just rinses off the second level.

This summer I got it out and started washing the house again. I got about half the job done with no problem. When I went to replug in a new location, the motor wouldn't work. I went through all the troubleshooting steps with no luck. I let it sit for a few days to see if it was overheated -- no luck. I knew my warranty was up, but I called CH to see if they had any advice. They basically said that no one will even repair electric washers anymore. So I guess it's toast.

Even though I'm opposed to the smell, noise, etc., I think I'm going to go the gas route this time. Not only because of my lack of faith in electric pressure washers, but mainly because I need more PSI to do a better job on my siding.

I'm also not sure a gas machine will be much more difficult to move even though they weigh more. The wheels on this machine work fine on a deck, but not really in a yard. It's also very heavy to lift (about 50 lbs.) and the cord is cumbersome to work around also since you have three to deal with -- wand, hose, and electric -- something to consider in making your purchasing decision.

The bottom line is that I got good years out of it -- which is more than some of the other reviewers, but I guess I expected much more.

As other reviewers have said, the box came damaged although the machine didn't seem to be affected. Assembly was not difficult but disassembly would be very hard because of hidden screws. The PW181000AV has good power and the turbo nozzle works very well. After about 1/2 hour of use, pressure falls off significantly and I have to stop using it for about a 1/2 hour, presumable so the motor can cool down. That's annoying.
